A question from a WorkingArtist user regarding multiple editions:
<<I have read everything and still do not get it. I have a 18x24 oil, 2 proofs are created, correct? I sell an 8x10 photo copy of this oil, should I click proof and then, edit proof type and then add proof??? Then it will list each 8x10 and 5x7 I sell of a work??? Thanks for your help, I just can't seem to put my finger on how this works or will help my inventory.>>
The thing to keep in mind is that the original artwork is not multi-edition--it is a one-of-a kind artwork. So in WorkingArtist you would create one artwork record for the original artwork and designate the medium (oil, watercolor, etc). Then create a second artwork record for the multi-edition artwork and designate the medium (serigraph, glicee, photograph). You can use the same title for both artwork records. On the multi-edition artwork record, tag the Multi-Ed check box. This will enable the Editions tab on that artwork record.
When you create the multiple edition artwork record, one proof and one numbered edition (print) are automatically created. You can add additional proofs. Please read the instructions in the Users Guide on adding additional proofs. If the artwork is a photograph, each proof you create can be designated as a different size, so you may have three proofs: 8x10, 5x7 and 11x14, for example.
For each proof, you can add up to 3000 numbered editions (prints). We advise that you only add the numbers that you are currently selling, not all 3000 at once.
