WorkingArtist on a Mac

An artist recently sent us a question about using WorkingArtist on a Mac. We thought that this information might be useful to other potential users as well. Here was our response.

Thanks for your email.

The current version of WorkingArtist was created in Microsoft Access, a Windows development database program and so it must run on the Windows operating system.

We have previously suggested that Mac users install Virtual PC so that they can run WorkingArtist and other Windows programs on their Mac. However, new Macs are using a different architecture that allows the Windows operating system to be installed and run on the Mac. If you have a newer Mac we suggest that you consider using either "Parallels Desktop for Mac" or "Boot Camp". You should ask your Mac dealer or Mac support person if the Windows Operating System can run on your Mac and which version of Windows they recommend. For either product you will need to provide and install your own Windows installation software on your Mac.

Parallels Desktop for Mac [www.parallels.com], enables you to run both Windows and Mac OS X at the same time.

Boot Camp [ www.apple.com/macosx/features/bootcamp.html] is a free utility from Apple that creates a partition on the computer's hard disk and installs Windows to it. When the computer starts up, you can choose to run either Windows or Mac OS X but you cannot run Windows and Mac applications simultaneously.

We recommend that you visit the respective web sites to see what will best meet your needs. While we are happy to help you in your use of the WorkingArtist application, we unfortunately cannot provide support for issues connected to non-Windows operating systems.

I am going to post your question to our user forum on the WorkingArtist website as well, so that other members of our community may benefit from this information. Should you have any additional questions, I’d suggest that you post them as responses to this message in the forum.

Thanks for your interest in WorkingArtist.
