I have been trying to produce labels -it has worked before- but the program program does not respond. I cannot say it freezes because if I use other other parts of the program it works. It just doesn't respond when I want to produce mailing labels. Advice please. And thanks in advance

Good day,

Sorry to hear about the problem that you're having.

What version of WorkingArtist are you currently using?
What version of Windows are you currently using? XP, Vista, etc?
Have you changed anything on your computer since the last time you generated labels?

What kind of labels are you trying to produce?

We did have one user recently who was having a problem producing mailing labels, and that problem seems to be related to screen resolution. However, that user's WorkingArtist froze completely when he tried to generate mailing labels. While we continue to work on a permanent resolution for that problem, we were able to provide a workaround using a different screen resolution that allowed the function to run successfully. For this particular issue, lower screen resolutions seem to work better.

If you could take a moment to answer our questions above, we can provide you with further assistance.

Thanks and have a good day.

In anticipation of hearing back from you, I thought I'd put up an initial suggestion. Running WorkingArtist at a lower resolution when you plan to generate Mailing Labels was successful as a workaround for another user that has reported this problem. I would suggest running at 800x600 to see if that will alleviate the problem for you for now. To do so in Windows XP,

1. Right click on any unused area of the Desktop.
2. Click on Properties.
3. From the Display Properties Window, click on "settings".
4. Set the Screen Resolution slider to 800x600.
5. Click "ok".
6. You'll be asked if you want to keep those settings. Reply "yes".

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks.

We are currently testing a fix to this problem in the Labels function, but in the meantime, you can create mailing labels in the Mail List function without changing your screen resolutions.

1. Click on the Mail List button on the Main Switchboard.
2. Create a new mail list.
3. On the Edit Mail List screen, click on Add Patrons.
4. Once you've added the patrons that you want on this list, click on Reports and select the Patron Address Labels report.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Kathryn

Good morning,

Kathryn has the correct workaround for you in her post above. I mistakenly looked at a test that we had done to diagnose the problem. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused.

As Kathryn noted, we're testing a permanent fix to the problem and should be posting it in the near future.

An updated release of Working Artist, Release 3.08.12a, is now available from the download page that resolves this issue.

Thank you for your patience while this problem was resolved.
