A couple hopefulls for version 4

easy integration with apps like mailchimp or constant contact...or easy export of basic patron info..first, last , email...without all the coloumns of unneeded info to filter.

rental of artwork....I have a gallery that rents work, so occationally I get a rental fee..the work is still available to purchase.

also at times artwork is included on tv or in magazines etc....would be nice to have provenece sections other than show entry...without having to enter info for a new patron
ie. under a specific artwork...HGTV; Income property, season 2 episode 12 etc...perhaps there is a way...I dont have the program in front of me

and of course...a basic app for iphone..with patron info etc.

Hi,

Thanks for those thoughts. We always get our best ideas from our artists. :-).

I'm am planning on integration with MailChimp, and possibly Constant Contact as well. I actually use MailChimp myself. It won't be in the initial release of WA4, but will follow.

I'll take another look at the export features. The problem is that it's difficult to know exactly what an artist will want, so we opted to keep it as general as possible.

Rentals? That's an interesting idea. You may be able to do something like that now using the "other" fees, but off the top of my head, that will probably still change the status of the work to "sold". I'll have to take a look at that further. There is probably a way to do something like that now, but you'd have to get "creative". You'd have to sell the rental as something other than selling the artwork itself, which can certainly be done, but it'd be tough to tie that into the provenance for the artwork, where an actual "rental" function would do that. Like I said, needs more review.

As to some of the more unusual instances of provenance usage, I'd have to look at that further.

As far as a mobile app goes, I just finished visiting some art fairs to survey what artists are currently doing in that area. No one really has a mobile art business app that they're using, but some are starting to at least handle the purchase payments by using their smart phone with a dongle that allows the credit card swipe. I do have a mobile app on the drawing board (another feature we get by moving to the new underlying platform we're using), and right now, the plan is to build the purchase right into the mobile app so the payment will trigger an inventory update, etc.

I really do appreciate you taking the time to share these thoughts. They are incredibly useful to me.

Thanks again and have a good day.

Ron
